And just like that, we’re into what looks like the final stretch of Covid restrictions. If all goes to plan, within just over a month Brits will be able to dine, drink and gather to their heart’s desire.
The low & non-alcoholic drinks sector has thrived in the face of massive challenges over the last year: the latest Kantar read for the year ending 21 February 2021 shows growth of a whopping 50.7% to £217.1m for the category, and that’s just in physical retail, so omits some of the tremendous gains won by brands in e-commerce and DTC.
As The Grocer’s Low & No category report reveals this month, every sector of low & no saw double digit growth over the last year – apart from one: RTDs, sales of which fell.
However, this could be set to change, quickly. At least if the likes of Diageo and Strykk have anything to say about it. Both brands launched 0% RTDs this month, in a bid to tap the moderation trend in on-the-go just in time for the summer.
